Round wood or square cut timber?

For strength and durability round wood from smaller trees is specially selected.  These timbers are strong and less costly than those sawn from larger trees and are produced through the selective thinning of managed forecasts.  However, cracks will occur in dry weather and the surface will become more rugged.  But a great rustic look!
